II. Alevi Encyclopedia Symposium — Dortmund, 10–12 October 2025

The Second Alevi Encyclopedia Symposium will take place on 10–12 October 2025 at DAKME Alevitisches Kulturzentrum e.V. in Dortmund. Bringing together scholars, researchers, and experts working on Alevism and related fields, the symposium aims to further develop the encyclopedia’s multilingual, open-access, and collaborative structure.

On 11–12 October (Saturday–Sunday), participants will join working group sessions focused on theology, history, diaspora, gender, music, language, mythology, and collective memory. Each group will contribute to the 2025–2026 publication cycle by defining key themes, identifying potential authors, and developing editorial strategies.

The working groups will operate in Turkish, English, and German, and are open to all individuals in the Dortmund region connected to academia — including BA, MA, PhD, postdoctoral researchers, and professors.

The symposium will open on Friday, 10 October, with a public reception and an introductory panel presenting the current development, editorial direction, and international collaborations of the Alevi Encyclopedia. The event will conclude on Sunday, 12 October with a plenary session and final reports from the working groups.
