HOW DOES THE ALEVI ENCYCLOPEDIA OPERATE?
WHAT ARE ITS GOALS?
The Alevi Encyclopedia is structured around three main components:
- Supporting Alevi Institutions
- Editorial Board & Scientific Advisory Board
- Technical Team
1. Supporting Alevi Institutions:
The encyclopedia was initiated by the invitation of Rıza Şehri Academy, with support from various Alevi organisations. The Academy is key in maintaining relations with other Alevi institutions, publicising the project, and ensuring its financial and logistical infrastructure.
2. Editorial Board & Scientific Advisory Board:
- The Editorial Board is independently responsible for organising and managing the publication process. It also supervises the establishment of the Scientific Advisory Board to ensure that the Encyclopedia maintains rigorous academic standards and gains international recognition.
- The Scientific Advisory Board consists of subject-matter experts who are consulted for their specialised knowledge in areas beyond the Editorial Board’s expertise. When they have time, its members may voluntarily contribute to the project through joint meetings, symposiums, and workshops.
3. Technical Team:
The Technical Team is responsible for developing and maintaining the website and preparing visual materials for the project.
How Does the Alevi Encyclopedia Engage with Academic and Intellectual Circles?
The Alevi Encyclopedia is envisioned as a long-term online knowledge platform that will gradually expand its content. It seeks to engage academics, graduate students (Master’s and PhD candidates), and researchers in Alevi Studies and related disciplines.
To foster intellectual exchange, the project aims to organise annual symposiums and workshops to create collaborative spaces for scholars. Additionally, the encyclopedia seeks to be featured in academic conferences and platforms to reach a broader contributor base.
In future stages, the project plans to:
- Expand the Editorial Board to include an international team.
- Enhance the role of the Scientific Advisory Board to increase its active participation in the project.
