The Fourteen – the Seventeen – Musahip (Misayib) – Nefs
In this video, Pir Mahmut Ütebay discusses the concepts of the Fourteen and the Seventeen, which occupy a central place in Alevi cosmology. He also offers explanations on human creation, will, and trial on the path of truth in Alevism through the concepts of misayib (misak, the primordial covenant) and nefs (self, desires). This account renders visible the metaphysical framework of the Alevi belief system, the ideal of moral transformation, and the notion of existential responsibility in conceptual terms.

Conducted within the framework of the Alevi Encyclopedia project, this work aims to document and digitize the oral transmission of Alevi religious leaders.
