Gağan – Haftamal (Howtemal) – the Month of Xızır – Black Wednesday – Kirmancki Prayer

In this video, Ana Narin Gülçiçeği addresses rituals related to sacred times that hold a central place in Dersim Alevism (Raa Haqi), including the Month of Xızır, Gağan, Black Wednesday (Haftamal), kavut, and other ritual periods. Explaining the meanings of these days—among the most symbolically charged phases of the Raa Haqi calendar—in a concise manner accompanied by Kirmancki prayers, the narrative renders collective memory and seasonal sacredness visible through women’s narration. The video conveys in detail how ancient practices such as the Gağan rituals and the belief in Xızır are sustained today and clarifies their place within Raa Haqi cosmology.

This recording was made on 10–11 May 2025 at the Dortmund Alevi Cultural Center (DAKME), within the framework of the Pirler–Analar Workshop organized for the Alevi Encyclopedia project under the Rıza Şehri Academy.
