The Birth Gate – the First Gate of Hak
In this video, Pir Ali Doğan, a member of the Seyyid Seyfeddin (Pîrî Sevdîn) Ocak, provides a detailed explanation of the Birth Gate, which is regarded as the “First Gate of Hak” in the Alevi belief system. Representing the moment in which the Zerre-i Âlem comes into existence, this gate is interpreted as a sacred threshold shaped around “woman,” “ana,” and the constitutive role of anas. Ali Doğan emphasizes that the Hakk Gate opens with birth and that the first encounter of existence with truth begins at this threshold, noting that the understandings of ikrar and rıza also take shape from this point onward. Themes such as the creation of Adem, the “four elements” (çar anasır), and the “emergence of existence” are addressed in both cosmological and social contexts. Enriched with narratives transmitted from Hasan Efendi of Başköy, the video renders visible that analık in Alevi thought is not merely a biological role but also an ontological and ethical position.
