The Ocak System and the Institution of Analık – the Kureyşan & Baba Mansur Ocaks

In this video, Ana Narin Gülçiçeği examines in detail the Ocak system and the historical function of the institution of analık within this system in the context of Dersim Alevism (Raa Haqi). While explaining the foundational pillars of the belief structure shaped by the principle of El ele El Hakka, she also draws attention to the past social functions of the analık institution and the processes of “social change” it has undergone in the present. The narrative is framed particularly around leading mürşid Ocaks such as the Baba Mansur Ocak and the Kureyşan Ocak, and renders visible the position of women on the Alevi path through figures such as Kadıncık Ana and Ayşe Ana from a historical and critical perspective.
