Musahiplik – The Görgü Cem & the Pir Gate (Pir Kapısı)
This video addresses the institution of musahiplik, which constitutes the foundation of the Alevi path, through Görgü cems held in Elmalı. Musahiplik is a lifelong relationship of companionship and responsibility established not merely between two individuals but through the unity of four cans. İkrar is the key to this path; the given vow is upheld at the Pir gate, while the düşkünlük gate functions as the conscience of both the individual and the community. Görgü cems are the spaces where these vows are examined and where everyone is weighed on the scale of justice of the path. The functioning of the Pir–talip relationship is evaluated together with the principles of balance and rızalık within the community. This narrative reminds us that musahiplik is not merely a tradition but a living practice of social justice and spiritual integrity.
